What my T.V. shows say about me:
As you all probably know I love television. Don’t get me wrong I love live theatre and film too, but TV has a special place in my heart. So here is my pseudo-analytical view of the TV I watch. Here is the top
Survivor:

This show has had a special place in my heart. Currently in its 23
rd season Survivor has been on for 11 years. That is longer than pretty much any non-related relationship in my life. Survivor has always been there for me and it never disappoints. Survivor has been dubbed one of the first reality tv shows out there. And it is definitely in the top 3. I think what really keeps me watching this show is the host Jeff Probst. He has total control of this show and it shows, and I love it! I have seen every season and I am the most faithful viewer. I think this show is like a home away from home for me. Even when I’m not with family and friends it gives us something common to talk about when I’m away. It sparks both joy and anger between us, and a few friendly wagers.
The Office:
This show should might as well be called my college roommate. I wasn’t an avid viewer of the show until 2007 and I can never look back. A lot of people find the humor of this show uncomfortable, but that is the humor. Michael Scott is literally my brain without a filter. Yes he has said and done some terribly non-pc things on this show, but who hasn’t thought of these things? Or who hasn’t been in a situation where someone in the room said something completely offensive without even knowing it. But underneath all the sexism, homophobia, and email forwards is a man with a heart of gold. A man looking for the same thing everyone else was: love. Now that Steve Carrell has left the show, we are left with an ensemble show that is just as wonderful. The office has grown with me, and except for season 5 I have loved every second of it.
Bored to Death:

As many of you know Jason Schwartzman may be my biggest celebrity crush since my obsession with Heath Ledger (RIP) in 2002. He, Galifinakis, and Danson make this show a delight to watch. What’s not to love: pot smoking, lots of wine, and New York crime fighting with a film noir feel. Not to mention tons of sex positivity. This show I think embodies everything I want out of my life: Three great buddies living in New York, writing and having various escapades together. The show is brilliant on all levels and thank goodness it is on HBO and can have the subject matter it deserves.
My Fair Wedding with David Tutera:
This is another ‘reality’ tv show that I spend hours watching on a marathon level. David Tutera is like the apple computer of all wedding planner/designers. He basically comes in a few weeks before a wedding and makes it something incredible. I’ve spent a lot of my life claiming that being an independent woman is a-ok and that I’m fine with being single, but this show tells me otherwise. Once a week I am blubbering like a baby watching women have their dreams come true. Secret: I think that I could be an amazing wedding planner. (Back-up plan # 2049824). This show brings my mom and I close together, I think that I got her hooked on wedding shows in general, but she was the one who got me hooked on David Tutera. So David Tutera if you ever read my blog please please please make over my wedding if that day ever comes. You are a genius!
The Walking Dead:
I’ve never really been keen on the whole end of the world hype, but I started having post apocalyptic dreams about 2 months ago and so maybe I get it now. This show is really well done, sometimes formulaic, but thrilling to watch. It is scary, sexy, and heartwarming. It really is scary though, I cannot stress that enough. If I watch it past the hour of midnight, I’m not sleeping anytime soon. This show has made me think about a lot of things (mostly dealing with the end of the world) and the show has been helpful in a character study. (How people react in desperate situations, true love, lust, etc.) The show rivals lost in formula, which is why I really think I’m hooked. You all know how I feel about LOST, or at least you should. (RIP-LOST)
Community:
Sometimes when you have roommates from all around the country it is hard to find a common ground. That’s what happened this summer, but one faithful day in the month of May; Trent popped Community season 1 into the dvd player. The rest as they say is history. The show reminds me how my college friends and theatre friends have become like family. Recently the show has been benched for an undisclosed amount of time and that is just unacceptable. The show has too many one liners, clever story structures, and feel good moments to go away. This cannot be another Arrested Development in my life. Please support the cause at

Or add a goatee to your twitpic, or facebook to support the darkest timeline here:

How I Met Your Mother:
Never has there been a show that allows me to feel like I can be awesome well into my thirties like HIMYM does. I cannot tell you how many times I have quoted the bro code. (Which I own btw). I can’t think of a couple more perfect than Marshall and Lily. How I Met Your Mother has gotten me through so many sick days of school. It never disappoints and it has been known to make me cry just as much as it has been known to make me laugh. I love the show because in some way I can identify with every single character. This is one of those shows I know I’ll watch re-runs of while I’m cooking dinner for my family years from now.
The New Girl:
This show makes me feel hip. It makes me feel like I’m doing the in thing. I love to think that I could theoretically co-habitate with 3 fully grown men and I could make them like doing d.i.y. projects. Zooey and I share a lot of things: Glasses, taste in music, and a mutual love of the website hellogiggles.com. The show is not trying to be something it isn’t and I know it isn’t going to let me down. Feel good comedies forever!
Now I could probably go on for hours about television here are some notables that didn’t make the cut:
America’s Next Top Model- Ultimate Lazy Day Show
Say Yes to the Dress- A girl can dream right?
Glee- Recently I dislike it more than I like it
Up All Night- Will Arnett and Christina Applegate – need I say more?
RuPaul’s Drag Race- Ever since I saw Paris is Burning I’ve been Obsessed
Big Brother- Summertime Survivor
How Do I Look?- Perfect for days when you need to feel better about yourself
Top Chef- Food Porn for the Hungry
Boarwalk Empire- So intese Scorsese
Arrested Development- I could literally write papers about it.
Yep I watch a lot of tv. So what?
