BINGO! DINO- DNA

The Children’s Movies that are not for Children.

The Fantastic Mr. Fox

This lovely gem of a film was created by one of my favorite directors Wes Anderson. It has an all-star cast and if nothing else this was a beautiful movie to watch. It has a really dope soundtrack and I find myself constantly quoting it in my daily life. I hate to say it but a lot of kids don’t like this movie. And you know what that’s ok because I still love it.

Up.

Dear Pixar,
I am constantly reassured that there can be beautiful pieces of film that are family friendly. I couldn’t have known walking into the theatre that I would learn one of the greatest love stories ever told within the first twenty minutes and without any dialogue no less. On top of that you gave me whimsy, delight, and the spirit of adventure.  I also listen to this soundtrack on the regs and I’m totally ok with it.

Love, me

Pocahontas

Now this movie means a lot to me. To me it means climbing bookshelves every Saturday morning and wearing pillowcases pretending I am in fact Pocahontas. This movie gave us one of the greatest sing along soundtracks of all time. Ok so it may be completely historically inaccurate and maybe it is racist. But isn’t that the beauty of all the Disney classics? Yeah I thought so.

The entire Toy Story Franchise.

I saw the first film with my daddy when I was 6 years old. It was absolutely magical. I had never seen anything like it before in my life. No one had. It is to this day one of my fondest childhood experiences. And the sequel didn’t disappoint. Pixar really has a way with playing on human emotions with absolutely no dialogue. (that jesse being abandoned montage, you know what I’m talking about.) I anxiously awaited the last movie of the trilogy and it was perfect. I laughed, I cried, and I saw it 4 times in theatres. Pixar is so smart.

Monsters Inc.

Ladies and Gentlemen. Here we have a film so good it is on my top five favorite movies of all time. The concept alone is amazing! There is an entire functioning world of monsters behind your closet door! Screams are their energy. They are having a crisis much like the rest of the world. There is an adorable babbling little girl that I can only pray my future offspring resembles. The cast is also amazing. The movie makes me laugh from start to finish and I think I’ve watched it more times than anyone should know about. I could really go on and on and on about this one. Maybe one day I will.
